Perfecting demo data for better storytelling
Product: Opportunity Builder
Responsibilities: User research, UX, UI design
Overview
Opportunity Builder is an internal productivity tool used globally within Salesforce. It simply allows users rapidly change a large batch of opportunity records within a Salesforce org. The tool is been widely used but hasn't been updated for 5 years.
My Role
I was asked to completely rethink how this tool could work. Working with the product manager, we've set 3 goals for the project - identify what works well and areas for improvement; modernise UI with Salesforce design system; improve usability. I kick off the project by researching existing users to identify what makes this tool indispensable and the other potentials through a user centred approach.
Insights and Opportunities
We've sent 25 questionnaires to global users and done guerrilla tests with local users. We've discovered 5 key insights, which helps narrow down to a subset of users we can target as well as identified multiple ways we can quickly improve the tool. We've turned them into user stories to ensure the final design to hit these targets.
The Result
The user research is very beneficial that we identified a lot of insights but realised they are way out of scope of this project, which we kept them in the bay for future product opportunities.
